What Stage is the Cortez Fiber Project in Now

What Stage is the Cortez Fiber Project in Now?

Construction of Phase 1 fiber to the business is done. The city is seeking additional funding to expand the fiber system.

Businesses requesting services will need to purchase a drop from the city. The drop fee is a One-Time charge. The drop functions similar to a water tap and triggers the installation of the fiber drop. Businesses can either purchase the drop directly at the City Service Center office or combine the drop with the service provider they choose for their service.

The city has some exciting service providers that have signed up to provide services to the Businesses. The following are the providers that are providing services on the network.

  • Farmers Telephone: 970-562-4211
  • Brainstorm: 970-247-1442
  • Velocity Net: 970-560-2577
  • Cedar Networks: 970-385-2500
  • Data Safe Services: 970-759-2229
  • FastTrack Communication, Inc.: 1-970-247-3366

You may contact them individually for specific programs and broadband plans they intend to deploy over the Cortez Community Network.

Please consider the Cortez Community Network and the associated service providers before you lock yourself or your business into a long term contract. You could save money and increase your capacity over what your connection currently is.

This project gives Cortez a unique service and asset that differentiates Cortez from the rest of the communities in the Four-Corners area.
