The Cortez Recreation Center is a beautiful 46,000 square foot facility situated in the 50-acre Parque De Vida just two blocks from Main Street (HWY 160). Upon entering the facility, guests are met by our friendly and helpful desk staff. After checking in at the lobby, guests can climb the monolithic climbing wall or play a game of pool. The natatorium offers families a children’s play area, a tot slide and play feature, a lazy river, and a 145-ft long enclosed tube slide. Also, swimmers and divers may swim laps in the competition lap pool or dive from the one-meter diving board. Two full-sized racquetball courts, 8,036 square foot gymnasium provide opportunities to play basketball, volleyball, pickleball, or free play, and other court games. Jog or run upstairs at the track that encircles the gym, or use cardio equipment and weight lifting machines. Classes are offered throughout the week and are included in most memberships or can be purchased separately. The classrooms are available to rent for family gatherings and events. Men’s, women’s, and family locker rooms allow space the change or shower after a workout. Beautiful parks surround the Center for outdoor opportunities including tennis, sand volleyball, pickleball, disc golf, and several picnic shelters for drop-in use or by reservation for parties, family gatherings, and/or special events.

The Friends of Recreation Fund
Established June 2003
Raises money for scholarships to the Cortez Recreation Center for those who would otherwise not be able to afford the fees. The primary fundraising project was the "Stones for Scholarship" whereby individuals and businesses purchased inscribed stones set around the flagpole in front of the Recreation Center. For more information about the Friends of Recreation Scholarship, please contact their administrator at friendsofrecreation@gmail.com. Follow Friends of Rec on Facebook.
