ACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT, CORTEZ PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION.  The City of Cortez has a vacancy on the Cortez Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Commission.  P&Z is the first body that reviews development proposals and is relied upon to help ensure that the City continues to grow, while preserving our sense of community.  Some of the responsibilities include:  make and adopt comprehensive plan, hearing, recommending and/or determining matters relating to zoning, planning or subdivision control, recommending boundaries of the various zoning districts, and exercising the duties and powers of the Land Use Code, and applicable laws of the State of Colorado.  All applicants shall be registered electors of the City.   Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Letters of interest should be sent to the City Clerk’s Office, City of Cortez, 123 Roger Smith Avenue, Cortez, Colorado 81321, or email at lsmith@cortezco.gov.   Letters must be received by July 5, 2022, by 5:00 p.m.

Membership Requirements

The Planning and Zoning Commission consists of nine members: five members of whom shall be registered electors of the city and shall be appointed by the city council, consisting of the city manager, the zoning administrator, the city engineer, and the mayor of the City Council.
