The Turf Replacement Program is an initiative the Public Works Department has undertaken to minimize water consumption throughout the City for non-essential landscape turf irrigation. During the Summer season, consumption of treated water in the City increases more than twofold compared to Winter water usage. A significant portion of this consumption is attributed to the irrigation of landscaped turf. The Colorado Water Plan has prioritized water conservation, to include converting “non-functional turf” to low-water use landscaping.
Accepting applications on a first come, first serve basis. Visit us at City Hall (123 Roger Smith), the Service Center(110 W. Progress Circle), and online via the City’s website.
The rebates for the program are $2 per square foot with residential projects from 200 – 1,000 square feet, and commercial projects from 200 – 2,000 square feet.
Some key requirements to participate in the program are as follows:
• The property must be in the City limits and the water must be metered by the City.
• Only visible areas, no back yards.
• Must submit a completed application.
• Existing turf must be established. No dirt areas or new construction.
• No previously completed projects are eligible.
• You must agree to maintain the area for at least three years.
