The Montezuma County Landfill broken baler causes issues for the City of Cortez recycling program and residents.
Recycling Baler Update 6-13-24
From the Montezuma County Landfill
"We'd like to thank everyone for their patience while the baler has been down. We are still waiting on parts and anticipate being able to take materials for recycling towards the end of July. At this time, we are no longer able to take even small amounts of paper or cardboard for recycling. Our recycling storage areas are completely full! Again, thanks for being patient!"
Update from The Montezuma County Colorado Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MontezumaCountyColorado:
"The parts for the baler have been ordered and should arrive in early July. We anticipate having the baler up and running by mid-July. Thanks for your patience!
If you haven't heard, the Landfill has not been accepting office paper, cardboard, or plastics for recycling due to mechanical issues with our baler. Without the baler we cannot bale the items and ship them out for recycling. At this point we just don't have space to store any more paper or
plastics. We don't want to add these items to the landfill any more than you do so we are doing all we can to get back to recycling as soon as possible."
