Join us on Wednesday, January 7 at Cortez City Hall, 123 Roger Smith Avenue, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. This session will provide an opportunity to ask questions and gain insight into the role of a councilmember.
First step qualifications: Candidates must be a United States citizen, at least 21 years of age on Election Day (April 7, 2026), and shall have resided within the limits of the City of Cortez for 12 consecutive months preceding the date of the election.
There are four seats available in the upcoming election. Candidates may begin circulating nomination packets starting January 6 at City Hall. To qualify, petitions must include 25 valid signatures and be submitted with the certificate of nominations by 5 pm on January 26.
The Regular Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Ballots will be mailed out in March. Please check your voter registration to make sure it is active and that the mailing address is correct: GoVoteColorado.gov
