• City Council and leadership staff met at an open public meeting this past Saturday to discuss the annual budget for fiscal year 2023.  All aspects of the budget were discussed and presented to the Council for comment and input.  Although still in draft form as we continue to work to perfect the final version that will be presented to the Council in October, it is close to a form that we can share with the public in advance of presenting the ordinance.  We are currently preparing to place a link on the front page of the City website.  We are still accepting comments up until October 11^th.  As part of our annual budget, I am proposing to the Council that we retire our City debt next year, and I am working closely with the Finance Director to ensure that all details are worked out in advance, and impacts are fully understood.  My office is working hard to prepare information to share with the public on why this matters and why this is being considered at this time.  Click the link to view the City of Cortez Proposed 2023 Budget.

• I want to remind residents and interested parties that the deadline to apply for the City of Cortez Community Support Grant is Friday, October 14, 2022 at 5:00pm.        Information for this grant may be found at Community Support Grant.

• I also wish to remind residents to participate in the "City of Cortez “Clean-Up Week” that is occurring Monday through Friday of this week.  Specific information may be found on the front page of the City website at Cortez Clean Up Week which includes a contact phone number if needed.
