Message from Mayor Rachel Medina

2022 - Mayor Message Posted on December 12, 2022

"Our community is rich with history, ranging from the Ancient Puebloans, Diné, and Ute people who were the original inhabitants; to the homesteaders and historic settlers who later established Cortez. Many of their decedents still reside here today making our community very diverse with an influential past.  A multitude of cultural and outdoor recreational opportunities abound. Cortez is a central location for visiting our local municipal parks, the San Juan National Forest, Canyon of the Ancients National Monument, Phil's World mountain biking trails, the Ute Mountain Casino, and Mesa Verde National Park. There is something for everyone in Cortez! Whether you are visiting, live here seasonally, or are a long-time resident, we hope you enjoy your time here in the beautiful Montezuma Valley.”
