Building Division
The City of Cortez Building Division administers the city’s adopted building, fire, and property maintenance codes. In addition to permitting for new construction and remodels, the Building Division also performs all annual fire inspections on commercial buildings. Additional duties include 911 addressing, flood plain, and zoning compliance.
To aid developers, we work directly with other city departments and outside agencies to ensure that projects stay on track. All developers are encouraged to take advantage of our Advisory Review Team (ART) meetings. These (ART) meetings are designed to help developers quickly bring their projects to completion. For more information or to schedule an ART meeting, call 970-565-3402.
