Preparation of Recyclable Materials
The material we sell to processors must conform to very specific guidelines and be free from contamination. Since you are providing the raw material for a manufacturing process, please help the City keep the cost of recycling down by using the following guidelines to separate your recyclable materials. Failure to meet these guidelines may result in the rejection of entire loads.
E-Waste is only accepted at the Montezuma County Landfill .
Aluminum - We accept aluminum beverage cans, aluminum pans, and foil.
Tin and Steel Cans - We accept tin and steel cans (i.e. vegetable cans, dog & cat food cans, etc.) and small ferrous items (pots, pans, etc.) If a magnet sticks to it, it is a ferrous metal and needs to be separated from the Aluminum cans.
Cardboard - We accept corrugated cardboard, brown paper, and paper board (cereal boxes, cracker boxes, etc.)
Drop-off Station: As part of the City’s recycling program, a drop-off station has been provided for those who are not able to participate in the City’s curbside pick-up program. There are several dumpsters at the drop-off station, each one labeled for the item to be collected. In addition, each dumpster has a sign stating which materials are acceptable and which ones are not.
The drop-off station is located in the Industrial Park next to the RV Dump by the City Service Center, 110 West Progress Circle, and is open 24/7.
