Dennis Spruell was born and raised in Cortez, CO. He and his wife built the Cortez Animal Bed & Breakfast 29 years ago. They have four grandchildren and three terrific sons. Two are business men in Cortez and the other is an Officer with the Farmington Police Department.
Dennis worked as a police officer for the City of Cortez for 30 years including being a K-9 handler, and the Director of the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force for eleven years. Dennis was then elected Sheriff of Montezuma County for four years.
Dennis states that his grandchildren live in Cortez and he wants them to enjoy the people, the geography, and have the great experiences he’s had, and doesn’t want them to leave. As councilman, he asks two questions; do we have the resources; is it the right thing and best decision for the community?
Dogs and obedience training are what Dennis enjoy most. He has worked with hundreds of dogs in the Cortez area. He also enjoys the great outdoors; boating, exploring in side by sides, hunting, and trying to keep up with his grandchildren.
