April Randle
CouncilmemberDr. April Randle, MD is a native of the Colorado Plateau who, with her husband Tom Seymour Ph.D., chose to live in the Cortez area 16 years ago. She was raised in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and other western states.
Her professional life has been full, rewarding and centered in serving others. She volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician on an ambulance service in rural Utah, became an instructor and worked in the bush of Alaska. She trained in the Army in a military police unit, served in the Army Reserve and became a seasonal law enforcement ranger with the National Park Service in her early adult life.
Graduating from the University of Utah Physician Assistant Program, she served in rural Utah and was awarded ‘Rural Utah Physician Assistant’ of 1993.
She and her family lived in the Netherland Antilles while she attended medical school. Upon returning she completed clinical clerkships in Spokane and a residency in Internal Medicine in Phoenix. She has worked as a physician and medical director in Emergency Departments, the Indian Health Service, juvenile corrections, urgent care settings, private practice and rural health clinics. Before retiring as the Medical Director for the Basin Clinic in Naturita, Colorado, she received the ‘Humanitarian Physician of the Year’ award for the State of Colorado.
Her interests include western US history, cooking and baking, refinishing wood furniture, reading historical novels, golfing, outdoor activities, her home, family and friends.
She is honored to have been elected to the Cortez City Council, to represent the citizens of Cortez and to preserve our quality of life.
